Every state's most fundamental right is to protect the integrity of its borders. Strip away the borders, and you skin the nation alive. And flayed states tend to become failed states.
what distinguishes Israel is refusal to define its borders, and infringement on the borders of every independent state in the region. the claim that Israel is protecting its borders in Gaza is disingenuous and self-serving.

Israel evacuated it's citizens from the Gaza Strip in 2005 in order to define its borders. But as one can see from your reaction, this didn't help much.
