And politicians who are elected, whatever their affiliations, go on to fight far away wars to build a legitimacy that is no longer bestowed on them by their people, because, with every election, they are fewere and fewer who go to the ballot box.

War loving western politicians won't stop here. I'm afraid they are taking us to more and wider wars because they think there is nothing to fix in their democracies. While clearly feeling their legitimacy is precarious, they won't ask why, they would rather go to war.
