Make no mistake, in #Syria, the bankrupt Western rulers' class and their consorts in the media are fighting for legitimacy at home, and in the eyes of the world.

I teach ethics and politics in Aristotle's philosophical thought and if there is anything I learned from Aristotle is that man is both a political and ethical animal, it is in our nature.

W democracies are in crisis with widening inequalities amid cyclic economic woes & a dissolution of local identities in favour of a homogenous one deriving not from social consensus & traditions, but imposed on the Self by powerless politicians overrun by for profit corporations.

The different frameworks for the social contract that brought about western democracies are no longer valid, citizens elect politicians who go on to receive orders from non elected entities.

And politicians who are elected, whatever their affiliations, go on to fight far away wars to build a legitimacy that is no longer bestowed on them by their people, because, with every election, they are fewere and fewer who go to the ballot box.

Sandwished between a suspicious electorate & demanding corporate masters, between those who ask and those who demand, politicians who get elected are learning to love wars.

Wars are the only way by which a powerless class of politicians can monopolize both legitimacy & decision making without having to resort to the electorate nor to their corporate masters.

#Syria, who resisted with all its heart to stay true to itself and to keep its citizens whole, has been basically paying for this slow western disintegration. Before it #Iraq, while Libya is still very much in turmoil. We don't know if it is going to make it.
