Its crazy when you think about how the global South is entrenched in a history of struggle against imperialism that has shaped our lives more than anything else. We carry so much on our shoulders because of colonialsim/imperialism. We live outside our motherlands because of it

My great-grandfather fought the Ottoman empire in South Lebanon, my grandfather fought the french colonial rule of Lebanon, and my father fought the Israeli occupation. They resisted these forms of imperialism simply because "they could no longer breathe"
