      So even in 2014, these people knew about "Al-Qaeda links"(in their own words) of Ahrar al Sham and still wanted to support it. What's your point?

      At that point in time, Ahrar wasn’t solidly jihadist, and some people were pointing out that America aiding them could allow them to become more moderate and ditch a lot of the extremists. Refusing to arm them just pushed them more into the extremist camp

      Ahrar al Sham was founded (2011) by Abu Khalid al-Suri, who was Zawahiri's official envoy in Syria. Probably don't have to mention the fact that Zawahiri is the leader of al-Qaeda, but I'll do it anyway.

      Yes I know. I also know that thousands of fighters joined Ahrar between 2011 and 2014, largely because of the nature of the conflict. To say that all these fighters were jihadists is absurd.

      A lot of people joined ISIS due to "the nature of the conflict", this does not make ISIS less of a jihadist organisation. Talk about absurd..
