Since I think there’s some confusion: the problem with medical circumcision is that it is a violation of the Hippocratic oath. A patient who cannot consent is subjected to irreversible genital surgery without medical necessity. There is also a violation of parents’ rights here.

Parents are misinformed. Even if it were left to their whim (which I don’t think it should be) they have a right to accurate information in making the choice & the US medical profession is not providing that. That is the responsibility of doctors, not parents.

What doctors say “there are some benefits, some risks” (they gloss over the actual harms). This is true but too vague. If I had lost an eye I wouldn’t have conjunctivitis right now (a benefit) but no one would say that removing a healthy eye has “some benefits, some risks.”
