Having been labeled an “Assadist”, I offer the following: One can be anti al-Qaeda without being pro-Assad; Syria under Assad is not a black-white equation; societal nuance exists; Demonization via labeling plays on ignorance and fear. “Assadist” is a meaningless trope.
