Only if Iran want their ship back in this instance. If Grace 1 had gone through Suez or Morocco, it probably would have been seized outright and the crew may have had their heads chopped off by now.

You are quite ignorant. The route has to do with how the ship was loaded. Suez is civilized enough but they would have been unable to use the pipeline there which would have been needed to get her higher in the water.

Have not heard they are in the habit of seizing tankers. The ship did chose Gibraltar for a stop to get parts/provisions.

No reason to believe the the Sunni King of Morocco would allow transit of an Iran tanker. Morocco has no qualms about shooting migrants boats at sea.pic.twitter.com/0zEyURWlG3

There is no indication that Morocco would take its disputes with Iran to the point of interfering with international shipping, least of all a tanker.

Morocco won't dare. It has more respect for International Law.

The UK over the past centuries practically created the rules of Maritime Trade. And UK Courts are probably the most capable in reaching a decision.

Why? UK Courts have also been found to be extremely partisan in their expressed views and findings when it comes to UK Foreign Policy but this case turns on a reading of EU Sanctions Regulations, a Council Regulation having Direct Affect. NO Sanctions against Oil TO Syria.

As I said, we will learn more once the parties file their briefs if Iran refuses to settle. And Hunt has already offered to return the tanker, so Iran will probably take that offer.
