My take on the deal with Russia and Turkey and the S400: I believe that Turkey cannot be trusted . I think Turkey and NATO will reverse engineer the S400 to find out how they operate. When Trump attacked Damascus Syrian air defences managed to shoot down most of the tomahawk and
2 cruise missiles. This was done with mainly russian S200s. This came as a big shock to USA. They have longed wanted to get hold of the latest technology in Russian missiles systems. Reverse engineering has always been present in warfare. I think the Russians have made a great
3 mistake. And shot themselves in the foot. During Russian Afghan war parts of the Hind gunship helicopter were smuggled out to Pakistan & a Hind gunship was reconstructed. I suspect USA & NATO technicians are busy at work at this moment stripping the S400 down bit by bit
4 I understand that the Turks will not get the full package that the S400 can offer. but they may learn valuable knowledge on how the S200 managed to defeat the state of the art cruise and tomahawk systems. --Tom Duggan in Damascus
Hope you're wrong (but you may be right)
It's not easy. Needs a lot of time and funds. NATO has had access to s300 for years (Greece, Bulgaria, Slovakia) and lately Ukraine. S400 is an update of the s300. All they hv done is fly against d s300 in exercises, with bad results which is why they fear its upgraded version.
