adequate anesthesia is not possible at that age, and the pain continues for weeks (and a lifetime) afterward leave it to the child to decide when he gets to be 18, when anesthesia is possiblehttps://twitter.com/Cukullen/status/1069003042891145216 …

There is anesthesia for babies as well, it’s just not warranted for circumcision.

" it’s just not warranted for circumcision." This is awful, I hope you're trolling. Just reading your comment made me cringe. Watch & listen to videos of circumcisions w/o anesthesia. They scream blue murder. Those aren't normal screams. They scream like they're being murdered.

You know better than doctors what’s best for children’s pain relief?

A great way to prevent the pain of circumcision is to just not do it and leave him intact. That's the best 'painkiller' of all. And, you get to know you're not violating human rights. And he'll still be able to decide for himself if he wants it at 21.

I've thought a great deal now about whether the age of consent for
#circumcision should be 18 or 21, I've settled on 21 for several reasons. One is too many 18yos aren't quite mature enough to not be subject to manipulation from adults, community,or wily marketing aimed at teens2 replies 0 retweets 3 likes -

The tobacco industry markets to teens because they're the most susceptible to manipulation. One interesting trend(?) I've seen recently, as circumcision rates decline in the US, clinics are stepping up circumcision marketing *aimed at teens* (with slogans like 'girls like it')

When I see clinics aiming pro-circumcision marketing at teens with slogans like 'girls like it', I find it hard to square that with Jen's assurances that Drs are completely magically ethical and pure as the driven snow, just saints, not businessmen.

I saw some like that recently on Twitter. I don't know if it's part of a new trend, or if that sort of thing has always been there & I've never noticed it. My guess is that as fewer parents circumcise their babies, they're looking for alternative ways to fool people into it.
