      Syria did not agree with Iran on every single position. Syria disagreed with Iran's support for jihadists in Bosnia like Iraq disagreed. Syria disagreed with Irans position supporting Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, on the Rohingya and other pan-Islamist issues which Iran dabbles in

      Syria supported and joined the US coalition against Iraq in the Gulf war and voted to allow US forces to set up shop in Saudi Arabia. Syria agreed to a ceasefire in 1973 without informing Iraq that was planning an offensive to re-take the Golan.
