Prisoner 1: Protests are all we have. Prisoner 2: But what about escape? Prisoner 1: No, no, protests are all we have. Prisoner 2: Destroying the prison? Prisoner 1: Sorry, it’s just protests. That’s it. Prisoner 2: What about going completely insane?

Which one of these two prisoners is the warder most likely to feel comfortable with?

If the prison represents the Earth, what in this analogy does 'escaping' or 'destroying' the prison mean? And if the prison doesn't represent the Earth, what is the relevance of your analogy?

It represents the system, aka the world. Not the earth.

Ok, so how are you going to 'escape' or 'destroy' the system without first protesting against it and raising popular consciousness. You and whose army is going to take on the military might of a western elite determined to defend its financial empire?

Sorry to interject but the financial empire is loving these "protests"https://twitter.com/DerorCurrency/status/1129897724793503744?s=19 …

It may well do if it can make money from them, and we don't manage to turn popular consciousness to our side. But that's the point of protest - to awaken and mobilise others, and to test and refine our own understanding of the obstacles we face. This really should be self-evident

Yes, my whole effort in this area is to refine understanding: there is no factual basis to the shortcut taken between extinctions & climate skipping all in between:https://twitter.com/robinmonotti/status/1125987713340051456?s=19 …

There's a difference between being right and being smart. Climate might rank 7th, but it's both the most all-encompassing and lethal of the threats we face and the one that most clearly illustrates the systemic nature of the problem with capitalism and our model of consumption

Lewis Mumford (Myth of the Machine). Only way to reverse humanity's trajectory is removal of legal tender laws giving banks exclusive privilege of $ issuance, 100% usury ban, and revival of self-sacrifice morality; ie, exact opposite of present paradigm.https://twitter.com/DerorCurrency/status/939766943082360833 …

1) sorry, these are the kinds of solutions Proudhon argued for in the 1840s; Marx showed they are evasions (too bad the Marxists, from whom Marx always disassociated himself, have stolen & poisoned his name) 2) the fundamental problem is intrinsic to the commodity form...
