Perhaps we could start reassuring them we value them by not starting their lives by cutting off a part of their junk, and making the rest of them feel like they're dirty and disease-ridden.

The clitoris glans is almost always removed in FGM so point stands. It would be like taking the heads of men which would be torture.

Yes, yes they do. Type 1 and 2 are the most common, and the types are ranked according to the severity of the mutilation. Type 1 includes at least partial removal of the clitoris. It only gets worse from there excluding the very rare nicking that makes up little FGM practice.
