Circumcision shows us some of the flaws in being human, our primitive need to form tribes and rituals for survival, and left us with harmful relics which are difficult to abandon because unconsciously it feels like we will threaten our survival if we give them up #i2

circumcision as hazing ritual (aborigines, African tribes) is very different from that of infants since it implies willingness to submit (as the price of joining tribe)--infant circumcision shows no respect for the will of the objectified child (Islamic practice is in between)

Good point but I was trying to make the point that infant circumcision has morphed into a tribal ritual in the USA

what tribe? USAians are not united by this ritual the spread of circumcision in USA post WWII corresponds to the loss of national sentiment in USA--the real Americans from Washington to Lincoln to Mark Twain & the AEF of the Great War were not circumcisedhttps://twitter.com/Cukullen/status/1051237714815868934 …
Cú Chulainn added,
Cú Chulainn @Cukullen2 The REAL people were spared this humiliation. But during the affluent postwar years the operation became standard procedure, making money for doctors as well as allowing the American mother to mutilate her son in order that he might never forget her early power over him..."Show this thread1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

I think you and I are talking about different things, we're not on the same wave length, I was trying to make a psychological point which is what I know a little bit about, you make valid points, but I'm not thinking along those lines, I'm getting a headache so will finish

yes, i have heard immigrants to USA claim that circumcision was part of their USA identity (it was done to them post-1945)--while people whose families lived in USA for generations were uncircumcised
