      Chomsky is proposing a peace keeping mission, not warfare. I do understand the Syrian point of view, which my paralegal (who's Syrian) has shared with me, but I would not want to see the Kurds slaughtered.

      Syria is prepared to defend the Kurds, but the Kurds want to control the northeast at the expense of Christians (Assyrians) and Arabs. in Afrin they refused Syrian Army protection; only hope of western intervention would lead them to make the same mistake twice.
