Boys are still cut in the USA with inadequate or no anaesthesia.
right--in fact adequate anesthesia is not really possible, i understand--but Kristie's post mentions surgery at 15 months, heart surgery was motive case for Anand & Hickey, i believe: "neonates were found to he more sensitive to pain than older infants" http://www.cirp.org/library/pain/anand/ …

Yes, I was referring to surgery such as heart surgeries. I’m aware that most doctors still don’t use anesthesia for circumcision bc “babies go into shock” after a while so they don’t believe it is needed. Truly breaks my heart.

Esp when we’re the only industrialized country that still performs circumcision on boys not based on religious purposes.
