you are inferring a lot from the statements of a few crackpots such as Kellogg. as Dr Leonard Glick's book makes clear, the key role was played by jewish doctors seeking to mainstream their peculiar form of child abuse.

No, Glick’s book quite clearly documents the roles of all people involved in the medicalization of male infant circumcision, not just Jewish ones. Yes, certain Jewish drs player a key role, but they weren’t the only ones responsible for the mainstreaming of circumcision.

i didn't say the only ones. and the puritanical impulse of US (& jewish, as the Gore Vidal quote suggests) doctors encompasses more than masturbation. the cause of ending genital mutilation need not entail the promotion of masturbation.

Glick clearly shows who was looking to “cure” masturbation, and what gentile drs of the time we’re trying before finally settling for circumcision. It was gentile drs who made the “observation” that masturbation was “nonexistent among Jews.” Jewish proponents jumped on this.
