you say that you are not making a religious arguments; do you mean to defend the practice on any grounds but religious ones?https://twitter.com/alijayne_mcnabb/status/1046493106319872005 …

When I say I am not making a religious argument, I mean I will not cite to the Torah. Not that I oppose the covenant. I don’t.

ok, i can accept your religious conviction as such. but the issue is your claim to inflict/support the infliction of this belief on children, with catastrophic consequences for their health and well-being.

I disagree with your premise.

Yes. It’s irreversible. This is not news to anyone.

so the claim that parents have the right to mutilate their children in this way is a radically pre-Enlightenment, anti-rational, and chauvinistic one. if you believed in the religion you would be more confident that jewish sons would embrace it when they come of age.

If it were mutilation, you’d be right. As for my faith, you know nothing. How dare you try to tell me I don’t believe?!?

if you believed your faith were compelling you wouln't feel obliged to deny jewish boys the choice to adhere to its tenets. there's no reason a man cannot be circumcised at 18 if he believes his relation to God depends on it.

If you knew anything about Judaism, you’d know that a Brit Milah must happen on the eight day of life. This may only be postponed for medical reasons.

am aware of Brit Milah but awareness of this issue is spreading rapidly, boys born now will be much better informed as adults. who would risk alienating own sons for life? if you were confident he would embrace Judaism, you could leave it to him to decide.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRJghmkIVfY&t=9s …
