Reading about Solon - mostly bc of his poetry, but it's inseparable from his politics - and I'm like "wow we need this guy right now"
Solon's seisachtheia was debt relief, not universal abolition. his reforms set Athens on the trajectory of democracy--a polity defined by the free movement of the commodity. Jesus & Marx want away with the commodity.

I actually read in some of the books tonight it was an universal abolition though, that he put an end to the practise of debt-bondage. But either way it would be a fine solution for Greece now
