This is crap. I've had both for years and sex is crappy because the relationship is. Sex is great because the relationship is strong. Sure it might be diminished and sorry for that, but there's no entire cultural norm tying you up so you can only have sex with one person forever.

We were tied down and had the most sensitive parts of our penis (probably our bodies) amputated without consent or adequate (if any) anesthesia. And you by your minimizing words are defending that atrocity. Cut men suffer sexual dysfunction at rates 4-5x their intact peers.

Sorry to hear that. But you still have your patriarchy intact so well done.

Men and women both promote genital mutilation across the world and in various cultures. The issue isn't bound to patriarchy, but rather control of sexuality and ancient cultural practices.

Regardless of the existence of patriarchy, children do not deserve to be punished for the sins of others. Infants are innocent. Circumcision reinforces patriarchy in multiple ways, not the least of which is that it teaches boys that consent/body autonomy doesn't actually matter.

To my mind consent is consent. If their consent doesn't matter, why should any one else's. In my opinion you are confusing the message sent by circumcision with the verbal messages sent later on. Circumcision betrays those later lessons.

Circumcision also reinforces the notion that boys are strong and girls are weak. Boys should be tested, physically and emotionally, and girls protected (and kept in their place as the weaker sex- at least in the wester context).

We all have different backgrounds, upbringings, political viewpoints and opinions. I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm saying there's more to it than either of us can comprehend. I'm speaking from my own experience, and I understand many disagree with it.

good point. better not to let our political and personal differences get in the way of doing what we can to end this practice.
