Circumcisions perhaps done in error cause pain and suffering, but that is not the *intention* of male circumcision, according to the OT nor Christian, amaXhosa or other rituals (it bestows manhood in that case). FGM exists solely to prevent women from enjoying sex full stop.

It's to confirm one's Jewishness and has nothing to do with sex. The Xhosa perform elaborate rituals annually for young men as a rite of passage into manhood. Billboards in S Africa encourage it to minimize HIV. 1000s of babies in the US are circumsized in hospitals every day.

None of these rituals are intended to patronize and control men the way FGM is intended to do. That's my point. They are both damaging in their own way, but FGM is intended to be damaging, physically, psychologically and otherwise. Make circumsion is not.

Again, demaged sexual pleasure, no matter how loud you yell it, is a far cry from a patriarchical structure that prioritizes virginity, destroys normal sexual relations and controls women's choices. It's the structure and context that's the point. You can still enjoy sex.

male genital mutilation does exactly that--destroys normal sexual relations and controls men's choices. this harms women too:https://polyamorydiaries.com/the-real-reason-women-cant-orgasm/ …

rather than fighting amongst ourselves with people who sooner or later will see the truth (later if debate becomes polarized) we should focus on informing soon-to-be parents. goal should be to stop as many of these attacks on infants as possible, long term goal criminalization

I'm not helping anybody with their issues if they are insisting the struggle is the same. Your ability to make me orgasm or not does not compare to oppressive structural patriarchy that treats women as possessions. That's all.

do you imagine that men and women are not both commodified under capitalism and subject to the same narcissistic fetishism of the commodity (that activists on all sides participate in)? if so, you are (willingly or not) a tool of capital
