#A11Y
With #MaxPayneRemake announced, I want to reiterate an important point:
When remaking a game... you have a huge opportunity to add #accessibility,, including for gamers without sight and other disabilities!
As an a11Y consultant, I'd love to help make this happen for more games!
lol the last tweet I see I made was about that book I was reading and...didn't pick up til ch 50 so...interesting and cute, but slooooow crawl with a semi-satisfactory ending.
This book is such a slow crawl of repetitive action that I'm srsly considering reading something else with it. It's amusing enough, but the MC needs to develop faster because we're 18 chapters into the book and he's still annoying. We'll see how it pans out though.
I honestly don't get how people listen to an audio book sped up. I always try to, and it just defeats the purpose to me, as I want to listen to an audio book for the purpose of the performance, more than getting through it quickly. I read ebooks if I want a quicker experience.
Kindles accessibility, and Goodreads are the 2 tools I'd say helped me the most when fully getting back into reading in 2019. I tried doing Audible, but while I'm getting back into audio books atm, I find reading an ebook easier and the format I prefer.
We'll see if making a contemporary shelf on Goodreads motivates me to read them more! As nothing motivates me more than filling a virtual bookshelf rotfl. But no srsly, Goodreads has been a great help in tracking my reading, and motivating me to do so/finding good reads.
I guess I should stop grumbling about the contemporary/traditionally published book prices because as soon as I DL a sample of 1 I buy it after reading the 1st few pages so...guess they're that price for a reason. Really like the generally snappy dialogue and framing of the genre
I want to get into reading more contemporaries but geez are they expensive when I look them up! I guess I'm used to indi book prices though, as anytime I venture out of those the books are like O.O with their prices. I guess I should get over that, since have read gd pricy reads.
Am I the only 1 who puts all the music stuff away because they're stuck on an idea only to come up with something to try right after putting everything away? It drives me nuts, but I guess I wouldn't have gotten said idea without tinkering w/the composition first, but ugh!
I'm tinkering w/my brownie recipe and tried it with half coconut oil w/the butter today and I think this will be my new go to recipe. Really chewy and fudgy with a nice rich flavor. Now I have like 3 recipes to go to for any given brownie mood XD
Still have four eps to go but The Rising of the Shield Hero is so good ugh. Haven't watched anime in a while and glad I broke my hiatus w/this 1. English dub is fantastic also, the VAing in ep 21 especially got me!
Whenever I work on one big project by the end of it I'm like picking it apart and finding everything wrong with it so I can never enjoy the full process, so this method also works to make me not be so hard on myself over every arrangement.
I finally figured out the theming I want for this original and now I can flesh out my rough sketch of it. Never tried working on a lot of stuff at once before, but tbh it's working as I can work on things in tiny steps instead of 1 big project that takes forev.
I was gonna record vocals for something tonight but I think I'm going to actually dedicate this week to making a chunk of instrumentals to record vocals to so I can get a decent posting schedule up again. This smaller cover will probs get done by next week though.
Inspiration just hit me to arrange today so I put down a bit more of an original idea I want to flesh out and arranged a cover for a short VGM song I've wanted to cover for ages. Idk where all this motivation is coming from, but please don't stop cuz it feels great to be working!
I really want to shift my focus to doing more original stuff this year. Doesn't mean I won't be doing covers, but it'd be fun to do origs based on characters in games and media along with straight up origs and covers. I feel like I can figure out my style better w/origs as well.
I'm super close to 300 subs and it would be great to get there by the end of the month! Please share or sub if you haven't already and like Celtic folksy arrangements of VGM and other sniz~
Next step will be fine tuning which usually means layer instruments and panning them and sniz. One of my fav parts, love being creative with the instruments used!
Just finished putting the basic structure of an arrangement down and yeah this is so much better than using pre-made instrus lol. I've apparently evolved, used to only use pre-made years ago but don't think I can go back to it now! Also getting to use some of my new samples, woo!
As much as I like the ease of using pre-made backtracks, I much prefer the control of making my own. Mixing them is so much easier, haven't used pre-made to mix in so long and leveling it is so wonky when you don't have control of all the diff instruments lol.
Everything is clicking into place with me actually recording with decent levels because geez was this so much easier to mix. Kicking myself for not figuring this out sooner smh. Live and learn I suppose!
Well stopping recording right when a small drizzle of rain starts is a stroke of luck. This song is harder than I thought it would be to record, but glad I did it! I have enough takes to sort through for sections, so next will be mixing. I may batch record some stuff 2 post also
Also the awk moment where you can't get the lead vocal the way you want it so move on to all the harmony layers and they sound way better rotfl. I'm getting to where I want the lead to be though, just needed tonight as a run through to see what technique issues I needed to fix!
The awk moment where you realize you've been recording at way to low an input for like a year ^^; peek watchers are you best friend. I adjusted my volume levels and started singing and didn't even hit the threshold I set so didn't need volume so low...whoops
Getting more active on my socials is something I've just decided to try and do so here's an update! I'm working on retuning my style, building up a sample library to use, and farming for ideas for originals because I'd like to combine those with doing covers more. #motivationwooo
It's the holiday season, which means it's time to share some Christmas covers w00t w00t! Here's a song from my A Very Crystal Christmas Vol. 2 EP, which you can check out at the link in the vid description!
I've been waiting for Granblue Fantasy Vs to go on sale to buy it and thanks to Black Friday is finally happened! My gaming muscles are so out of shape, haven't gamed in a while but geez I love this game. Still learning it, but mechanics are so solid and VAs are fantastic!
There are long stretches of time where I just abandon the internet because I need a mental break so if I vanish for a few months, that's usually why. Just wanted to say, if you ever need to contact me then, or just want to say hi, you can DM me on twitter - where I reply 2 most
There's been such a big learning curve with the new Wordpress post editor but I think I'm finally getting the hang of using it and like it a lot. Streamlines the process a bit, not bad.
Is it just me or do you plan to do a ton of things for the day and then wind up only doing like 1.5 of those things because that's me aaaaall the time -_-
I've been listening to old nostalgic songs from my preteen years and I just have such an urge to work on some Hilary Duff covers rotfl. I still like a lot of her singles, still great jams.
I found a way to record system audio w/no fuss which is great because I wanted to do music related podcasts and that was a hurdle. Time to do some tests, fingers crossed this goes smoothly! If so, new content will pop up on my channel woo~
I'm trying a minimalist approach at my mastering because I find I overdue it with EQ tweaks especially when mastering. So we'll see how doing tiny boosts and minuses goes, I like the masters so far tbh. Takes less time too, which is always good :D
I finished mixing all of the Christmas stuff thus far but like I said before, probs going to add 1 or 2 tracks. Nice to have this first wave done though, yay!
I'm digging how easy it is to mix acoustic and folk stuff. I don't think I've mixed something in 1 day in a loooong time O.O gonna see if I can master these all tmw and finish up my productive week with a bang!
