Typical crow's nest in urbanized area in Japan. See they are using wire hungers. Many birds use replacement materials to build their nests, not only crow! # crow

Crow fashion in the hybrid zone - Her two fresh Cronix models I met on my walk yesterday. Possibly siblings. Parents of crows like these may both appear pure hooded (cornix) or pure carrion(corone) from a distance. There is so much misunderstanding and misconception....

A subspecies of Large-billed Crow, specifically occurs in Yaeyama archipelago, Corvus macrorhynchos osai. Much smaller than C. m. japonensis in Japan mainland. So cute!

Mixed-species roost (Large-billed, Carrion and Rook) at Hikawa shrine (Saitama, Japan). In Japanese myth, crows were the sacred bird. Now it seems people have forgotten that old story, but it is not crow's business. Crows come to shrines to make roosts.

Mutual alo-preening between a pair of Large-billed Crow. According to my friend who studies Crows in captive, sometimes male-male arp-preening occurs. Mainly dominant male to subordinate one, maybe to keep relationship with other members of the flock. # Crow
