Is @BergerRussell really trying to gaslight the whole community playing the victim card? Last time I checked it was the GLBTQ+ community that is having to fight tooth an nail for the basic human dignities given to heterosexual cisgender Christians by default.
So blatant homophobia is something to be investigated, rather than meriting an outright sacking? Gotcha.
That’s the law mate.
It’s due process, he has to get investigated. CrossFit doin. This is the right thing. We may hate bigots, but they get to stand trial. It’s up to CrossFit to make a just decision. We’ll see what happens.
This isn't a court. You are not necessarily entitled to due process. The tweet either violates a code of conduct or it does not. There is no investigation needed for something so public.
It’s a clear violation, but an investigation still needs to be done
that’s HR. Atleast, that’s how it is with the businesses I’ve worked at— there is always an investigation and (usually) they’re fired even with blatant evidence.
the investigation into this is literally: Was this tweeted? Did he tweet it? Does it violate our code of conduct. That literally takes asking him did he tweet it. The same amount of time that it takes to inform him he's on leave.
I hear you. I do. I want this d-bag canned. But there will always be someone who plays devils advocate at the company and will (inevitably) slow down the process. The tweets have been screen capped and spread. It’s just a matter of time.
this isn't playing devil's advocate. it's hesitation and wondering if they really have to fire him or if it will just blow over.
@BergerRussell spoke upon his religious beliefs. Not in hate. Dissent of an oppinion is not agression. It's a different viewpoint. The backlash he is received is exactly what he was talking about.
Stop trying to hide behind the cross. If Jesus were alive today he wouldn’t be a Christian, that’s for sure. You and your ilk should be ashamed of yourselves for letting hatred plant seeds in your heart against other people. Denigrating an entire group of people is hate, period.
Jesus called out sin where he saw it. Where many Christians fail, myself included sometimes, is responding in grace along side that calling out what Jesus calls sin.
No, where most christians fail is in loving first. Jesus himself said the two greatest commandments were loving God and loving others. He wasnt like "love other, but make sure you have a reason and agenda". Keep your grace to yourself, no one needs it.
Loving god and loving other still shows loving God as First. Loving what he loves and not what he doesn’t. A Christian doesn’t have to agree with a lifestyle to love someone.
But if God loves all (including sinners, whoever you deem that to be), then so should you, correct? Loving god and loving all, from what's been said above, are completely intertwined concepts.
More like built upon rather than intertwined. Love God, love what he loves. Pursue righteousness. As a result of loving God, then also Love others as God loves us. This means calling out sin where it is. Having grace with sinners and point them towards righteousness by Loving God
"Point them towards rightousness" based on one's interpretation of a book which they believe is reflective of the values of the creator. It's fine to have religious beliefs and to do one's best to abide by them, but you cross a line when you expect others to.
