    This is part of the reason why we don't want to be in the EU's walls... The Ex-remainers (I suspect they are still trying to fight the 2016 referendum though) think we're just a tiny little "england" not this 'soup'

    I wonder what percentage of British people realise that the English they speak is a glorious melange of other languages. Mostly French, Germanic and Latin it reflects the waves of migration here since the time of Christ. There's no such thing as "English" really, it's a soup.

    This! It's already quicker to get to London from any of these places than it is to get between them (well, nearly) They may have a bit of a rivalry between them & say not want to be better linked but what unites them is the knowledge they don't need to get to that london quicker!

    I didn’t oppose any of these so can your red herrings. Answer this: what adds more to UK productivity: a fast train London to Brum or a Leeds-Manchester-Liverpool fast train that creates a labour market bigger than Greater London.

    Opening up lines closed in the 1960s.. How very future thinking!... Not! Maybe if the were opened up with a new kind of track that's cheap and can just take personalised automatic driving train car things like A with an automatically lowering bogey. Drive you own or public

    As in Chinese proverb, a great journey starts with a single step. Reopening lines closed by Beeching is a noble adventure which helps economic development, quality of life & the environment. I would spend 10% net EU fees (£1.2bn) for 15 yrs = £18bn on this

    And the most pointless statement of the day goes too:... Isn't the entire point is that you don't want the church involved as you don't care what they think?! Who knew they still believed in the whole "no sex before marriage" thing anyways? Reminds us how archaic they are

    As I was saying, we'll see the light at the end of the tunnel but it'll turn out to be the ghost of bernard manning with a torch which will be enough for them to continue saying everyone who disagrees is a racist. But yes, it'll be funny in the meantime to see them twist and wail

    And even though it won't happen, it's still a good thing to see its high priests panicking. If you can't defeat them - at least make sure they'll find no joy in their victory.

    It'll start to look like something is happening, but then someone will make themselves famous off of attacking the awful but they will go too far and turn out to be just as racist as the "progressives" which'll be enough to tar everyone with the same brush and the woke will go on
