Making children go through life-defining trials, like school, is not a good thing, despite the euphoria of success. For one, it makes the endeavour about succeeding at the trial and not about the content or the fun you might have.

We can use creativity to compute large products in our minds, but computers can do that too. Unless you are addressing a problem and having fun, there is no reason why emulating a computer is useful.
