I understand what you're saying. But saying I'm encouraging people but to support the creators is plain wrong. I'm telling people to consider not using YouTube, and I'm encouraging them to directly pay the creators. $1 per video beats the less than a cent from ads.

nobody will pay $1 per video neither you will pay $1 per video to all the creators you watch, some ppl have over 900 subscriptions and thats not even counting the vids they watch that they are not subbed to, all of that money adds up, thanks to ads, not patreon

Nobody? Last I checked, there were a lot of people on Patreon. What's more, it's not just Patreon. People can also make donations. There are plenty YouTube channels that have no ads, and rely solely on donations. So I don't buy that.

not everyone make 1 video a month or so, some ppl make 3 a day, are you telling me they will get paid 3 bucks per day, per person, from all their subs? even if that happens, wich is nearly impossible, how do you solve the non-sub views problem? or ppl with 900 subcriptions?

Ad money per view is less than a cent. As such, $1 goes a long way. So if someone makes 3 videos a day they could ask viewers $1 a month and still make a profit.

$1 a month is quite different than $1 per video from 17k subs, the most you will get is 32 patrons, usually is less than half that $32/month is pocket change compared to ad revenue, wich even being also $32, you are throwing it for no reason, nothing happens if you do it, wasted

Someone making 3 videos per day, for a month, will get about $22 from those 32 viewers. If they block all ads and pay the creator $1 a month, he's up by $10, almost 50%. What's more, YouTube makes $18 from those viewers, for nowhere near as much work as the creator.

And if we assume all the subscribers view every single video, he's making $11.6k per month from ads. If every single viewer blocks ads and pays $1 a month, he'll be up by $5.4k.

as i said before, the most ppl you will get to pay you on patreon is 32, out of 17k so your comparison should be $11.600 vs $32 or $160 if they all pay $5 each, wich they wouldnt, pocket change compared to ads

I think you need to read what I said again, cause you're not getting it. I don't see how you're honestly comparing the income from ads vs the income from ads + people on Patreon, but for some reason you're ignoring the ad revenue in the second case. Completely wrong and dishonest

You simply can't get around the fact that, a long as a creator makes less than 130 videos a month, every single viewer that blocks ads and moves over to donate $1 a month is a net gain. And that's assuming everyone watches every single video, which people don't do.

even if you were right, your argument still has holes, that you keep avoiding you wont pay for every creator you watch, you will only pay for a few, of all your subscriptions and nobody in need* will throw away money, they will just use both, not 1 instead of the other
