I really feel this. I loved Starcraft 2 a lot but man I am not fast enough to compete. I feel like there has to be a better way to do the "easy to learn, difficult to master" thing beyond making me keep up 15 different things at once

Always going to happen as a competetive game gets old. Eventually, the skill ceiling will rise to an unsustainable limit as casuals drop out and hardcores keep playing. But balance and feedback can't cater to just those few. It doesn't make sense gameplay-wise or financially.

No RTS will ever be nicely balanced both for casuals and for pros. At least when balancing the pro level you know that that's kind of a skill ceiling roof where you can easily compare races performances because the skill is similar and optimised to the extreme
