SC2 sold well, but it wasn't a "smash success." I understand the logic of "if you're not trying to sell 10m+, why even bother" from a studio like Acti-Blizz, even if I don't agree.

StarCraft 2 was at the time one of the biggest selling PC titles and was also critically acclaimed with massively positive sweeping reviews outside of the lack of LAN or offline features.

SC2 was never in top 20, SC1 is but looking at PC games best-selling list then comparing it to the actual best-selling games list is a very, very big gap in numbers

I miscounted its 20th in top 20 :v (I was looking at this list and thought it was 21st earlier). but again, look at this list then compare the numbers to the straight up best selling games of all time list, very big contrast for PC vs console/mobile

Oh no doubt but I still think of Blizzard as a PC targeted company. Maybe that’s less true now with Hearthstone on mobile, OW on consoles, etc.

Also it’s worth noting that per platform PC sales aren’t that crazy off. Top 20 selling xbox one game was 1.6 million. Top 20 switch game is 2.1 million. Top 20 PS4 game is 2 million. The larger sales come from multi platform.
