IEM is not paying streamers for the qualifiers while forcing logo use as well as in stream video ads, and rather than let them earn money through donations/subs, they have restricted the use of alerts.
@ApolloSC2 is this really what you want for the sc2 community?

I think when I cast events I am very minimalist on ways I monetize. I have my own sponsors. I don't have visual or audible sub alerts on, I focus on the game but I at *least* want to say thank & name someone if someone subs/gift subs/donates.

with their rules they're forcing you to be not minimalist tho right? With the ad play and logos

Yea I more just meant I don't have conflicting sponsors/ads that I want to run. I can live with not monetizing myself in those ways when I cast.

I get it if they don't want it interrupting games for clips or something? But I would be like to say thanks after game to anyone supporting the channel monetarily or big hosts etc

Which isn't a problem or something we'd heavily restrict.

Unsure exact wording you've been given without digging it up. This restriction in the way worded here would have never been the direct intention.

Ok that's good to hear. The exact wording to the question "We cant have stream alerts even between games?" Was "If you want to say a general thank you for supporting by watching, subbing etc once in a while it's fine but no more than that" Which to me meant it's not allowed.

That's the impression I got as well. I have all sub/donation/raid notifications off for the whole stream - even game breaks. It does seem like an odd choice.
