I've NEVER gotten any kind of feedback from any company I've applied to and been rejected from. Does that really happen?

My understanding is that legal departments don't want interviewing managers to write feedback, because there's no real upside for the corp, but a potential downside of the interviewer accidentally disclosing a discriminatory bias used as basis for rejecting that causes a lawsuit.
