    Currently watching my son’s pre-K teacher trying to hold live read-aloud over Microsoft Teams. The interface desperately needs a “young kids” mode that makes the mute button like a quarter of the screen.

    We will attach an informational label to content that seeks to delegitimize the outcome of the election or discuss the legitimacy of voting methods, for example, by claiming that lawful methods of voting will lead to fraud.

    This is BAD. Even if you think the tweet shouldn't be deleted (it should), the warning should be overlaid on the video. That the (wholly insufficient) warning message doesn't appear AT ALL on quote-tweets OR on the original tweet in clients like TweetDeck is indefensible.

    this is bullshit. You can’t let WHITE HOUSE OFFICIALS post doctored videos intended to manipulate an election and just slap a ‘manipulated’ label underneath (and even that doesn’t appear on retweets like this). It’s slander and anti-democratic. Don’t be an accessory.

    Using people as political props without their consent is unconscionable.

    The immigrants who became citizens at last night's naturalization ceremony at the White House were told only minutes beforehand that President Trump would be appearing, and they weren't told that footage of the ceremony would air during the RNC

    This police chief said a white 17 year old murdered two people “to resolve a situation” and that “people shouldn’t be out after curfew.” We see how police protect and act as accomplices to white assailants from the start. This is so racist and sick, yet on brand for police.

    Thread! This is great perspective on how to build coalitions that are aligned on goals/priorities/etc. without "designing by committee".

    Seeking alignment of understanding often gets conflated with seeking complete consensus of opinion. If the second has the potential to slow you down, the first is foundational to quick-decision making - but they are often viewed and applied as one and the same.

    And this is why I believe that my alma matter () has the only sensible in-person reopening plan. It still might not work, but this is what a real attempt to solve the problem looks like.

    My university is testing all students and staff 2x/wk. So it processed 17,000 coronavirus tests yesterday. That is 2.7 percent of all testing done across the entire United States. That is not a typo.

    I'll be honest here: I've never before made the—very obvious in hindsight—connection of the word "lame" to hurtful, ableist language. Thank you for highlighting this, .

    Damn it. Why do media critics like and get to use "lame" without ever having to respond? "Lame" is ableist, akin to using "gay" or "ghetto" as a perjorative. And yet top media cops at use it without care.
