And the rapid and widespread increase in cases & hospitalizations countrywide portends many more deaths in the coming months.

Yeah, hospitalizations in Los Angeles County have gone up 40% in the last 2 weeks. Not an encouraging trend.

I know it’s usually two week lag. But, percentage of ppl hospitalized compared to overall cases seems much higher than earlier in year.

Just a wild guess but if the virus is seasonal, which seems obvious, people could be getting a much bigger infectious dose than in summer. So if 1k virus is needed to get sick, people in the summer were getting 1-5k. Now they’re getting 10-20k. Numbers made up.
