I often say, hurricane events have 3 phases people go through. 1. Anxiety phase - the prep days leading up to a storm 2. Terrifying phase - going through the storm 3. Indescribable phase - the weeks, months, years of recovery. Many lives have been changed forever.

Most people who haven't been through a hurricane in a large metro area don't realize the scale & scope of debris that has to be removed from decades of construction, suddenly destroyed.

And while thousands of homes are unlivable, tens of thousands have serious structure damage but can be recovered. Those folks will likely have to wait months until that process even begins.

The 2 most important things I learned from flooding🙏🏻
Quote Tweet
Florida peeps….2 things I learned when we flooded. 1) As soon as the water drains, hose the house out immediately. 2) To get wet items out of dresser drawers you’re saving…..take the back off and force it out from the back with a board. Please retweet or C&P. Prayers🙏🏻

This is like smoking a pack a day and then getting cancer and dying and claiming it was a 500-year cancer event, everyone at the funeral smoking. The Florida coast is called a flood plain, this is a horrific disaster, but it’s a man-made disaster.
