Yes, I think it is pretty plain in my article that there are major question marks over Chepiga's identity. But as he seems not to be Boshirov anyway, a quite different question.
Yes, I see your argument there, and can separate these two inquiries. But if that photo is not Chepiga, then entire circular case made by Bellingcat is voided. That's why it's a fundamental question, which means entire mainstream media is presenting forgeries as fact today.
There is clearly a lot that both the Russians and UK are not revealing - it could be an extended cat and mouse game. Firstly the Russians can easily debunk any claims Boshirov/Petrov are not active GRU if they wanted to. The fact that they choose to not to is either because 1/

Loss of dignity? Craig correctly states that the BBC didnt show the third photo and thus de- and recontextualized the whole thing. Without Craig, maybe nobody would notice that.
