He is a physics professor, not a climate scientist, the climate has many interconnected systems that crush things like this. CO2 is not the only greenhouse gas, we measure our greenhouse gas emissions in CO2 equivalent, or CO2e, based on how warming each gas is compared to CO2.

I think that we're making progress if

0.5 degrees? One big issue with that claim… it’s already warmed by 2 degrees since the Industrial Revolution. So ‘just 0.5’ is impossible (2 is more than 0.5)
