  2. A good example of why the “you just have to be consistent” argument fails. (See also: streaks broken through illness and unexpected events.)

Apps like the third-party Streaks app have a better way of doing this: instead of a daily routine for everything, it allows X completions within Y timeframe. Sure, exercising daily is good, but regularly, say, 3x a week beats nothing. AW should address this natively.

Some good ideas here. Streaks certainly need addressing. I’ve chatted with Apple people about granularity in sleep settings, and got a curt response about consistency. Fine, but we are not robots. Same w streaks. And missing streaks can be dispiriting to the point people give up.

When compared to which country? Singapore? Perhaps. But the US, Japan, Australia? The EU doesn't have "very high tariff walls" in comparison to other countries /1

Dear Lobby Journalists. Congratulations on taking a stand against the manipulative practices of Number 10 Downing Street. You’re quite right - what they’re doing is appalling, and disgracefully misleading to the public. (Short thread)

The problem is that most parties – Labour included – are shit scared of adding higher tiers of taxation, because spun, and then they fall over themselves trying to justify it. Frankly, e.g. “you only pay 60% on earnings OVER two million PER YEAR” shouldn’t need hiding away from.

The same’s happened in the UK. Income tax brackets here: 0%: £11850 (~$15.5k) 20%: £11851–46350 (~$15.5k–60.7k) 40%: £46351–150000 (~$60.7–196.5k) 45%: £150k+ ($196.5k+) The right would have us ‘simplify’ this with one tax rate. Why? Because the rich benefit. We need MORE tiers

“The UK offers 39 weeks paid parental leave,” says . For 33 weeks of that, the “pay” is at a rate of £7,696 a year, which absolutely no one can live on. It’s all filth. As always. Every word.

I come from a fishing town. The fishing was 90% gone by my childhood, and we were fighting for the scraps with Iceland. EC membership gave us a basis to negotiate fishing rights to our benefit and enabled the town to pivot successfully to international frozen food processing
