1/ Our $2+ billion Phoenix light rail investment has done almost zero to increase transit ridership. We spent $400,000 for each incremental daily commuter added to the Phoenix transit system. @antiplanner http://coyoteblog.com/coyote_blog/2019/11/phoenix-light-rail-fail-2019-update.html …pic.twitter.com/O52PF8ikLE

2/ In doing so, the costs of light rail (as in nearly every other city that has built it) has trashed the bus system. Each $ shifted from bus to rail reduces ridership because light rail is so much more expensive than buses per passenger moved, not to mention less flexible

3/ This is a huge middle class boondoggle. Rich urbanites hate buses and want trains. So politicians build expensive trains on upper middle class commuting routes and starve the bus routes that lower income people depend on.

Yup. Light rail is stupid and expensive. Create dedicated bus lanes to cut travel time. Much easier and cheaper.
