The Celtics and Toronto Raptors are supposed to start their playoff series tomorrow. Celtics’ Jaylen Brown said of his jersey number yesterday, after seeing the Jacob Blake video, “I look at my jersey now, what I see is a black man being shot seven times.”
Celtics’ Marcus Smart said yesterday, "We tried the peaceful way, kneeling, we tried to protest, we tried to come out here and get together and play this game and tried to get our voice across, but it's not working. So, obviously, something has to be done.”
Which other teams/athletes will protest by boycotting? Which leagues will postpone/cancel events? The Detroit Lions cancelled a training camp practice yesterday after a lengthy team meeting where they discussed the emotional police shooting of Jacob Blake.
NFL training camp... usually a time of year when the outside world is non-existent to players. To go from intensely getting ready for a season, to being too concerned, hurt, and/or angry to practice shows just how serious those players are about doing their part to create change.
