    Really pleased overall. I still think machine systems work better the more you milk. 600 cows plus and 2 or 3 versions of this shed would be great. To keep the age split down. We took 7 out of the pen yesterday averaged 1050g/day from birth to 11 weeks old........

    Any more thoughts on this Tom? - would be good to hear how it is now and what you would do different. Lots of housing questions lately:

    Its 16 months since we had a fire on the farm which destroyed our calf shed and its contents. Today we started to wean the first set of calves reared in our new calf shed. It's design has been a real challenge and the new system is a big change, but first impressions seem good!

    We’ve upgraded this high output Dairy in N Ireland from Deep Sand to Pack mat. Pack mat maintains 2 inches of fresh sand bedding next to the cow at all times & prevents cows digging.

    Before and after - it's a big decisions to reduce cubicle numbers, but milk yield has massively increased from this building. Increased bed lengths and passage widths. Reduced from four rows to three.
