We have reached the point where all our institutions have taken on characteristic traits of the female outlook and in the female outlook if someone is struggling he is a loser and so must be laughed at and kept at arms length.https://twitter.com/ScottMGreer/status/1456644599653437445 …

This has to be the first admin to have complete contempt for the problems of ordinary Americans. They mock the supply shortage, pretend inflation is great, and laugh about high gas prices. https://twitter.com/RNCResearch/status/1456610771186634757 …

Interesting, because policing decades ago was formally more conservative, but tended to quietly be more permissive. There was no cop worship in our culture prior to the 1960s.

Cops still had executive authority back then - they could hand out a beating as the beginning and end of the "process". They got respect because they played a role that all men were expected to play to some extent - now they do something alien - act as purely a cog of the system

      >Cops still had executive authority back then I actually think it was much more limited then, in the sense that you had to pass a threshold of criminality for the cops to unload on you. Look at the culture, films, and accounts from radicals in the 60s.

Here's a crazy example I just read: while Huey Newton had killed a local cop and gotten off, a policeman STILL warned him that some other criminals had a contract on him. This is an honor system that's hard to comprehend today.

Because I'm talking about informal tendencies, of course there will be lots of contrary instances. But I'd rather run afoul of police in the era of Andy Griffith than after all the supercop TV/Hollywood/novels of 70s-present day.

Andy Griffith era cops if overwhelmed would get other high status men of the area to join them and do what what was needed. Modern cops aren't supposed to use judgement (that's racist) and were immunized when following procedure - only recently have progs revoked the deal.

Cops will adapt and follow the new deal - "no taking action against black criminals - period"
