Unless they're inclined to construe them as a childlike victim in which case the coddling response kicks in. Either way there's no intent that the struggler fix their root problem and thrive individually at their highest potential.

Interesting, because policing decades ago was formally more conservative, but tended to quietly be more permissive. There was no cop worship in our culture prior to the 1960s.
