Dang I liked Dune. I had the feeling Villeneuve was the guy to pull off how big and foreign the universe is but he created one of the most vivid film-worlds I've ever seen

My only complaints are 3 casting choices, one character omission and the lack of fleshing out Yueh and Piter. But things always have to be cut for film, so even with those niggles, It's an excellent adaption. He is obviously an actual fan.

I hope there's more Piter in the second part, he was barely there but I liked the role a lot

I missed the Fremen riding a sandworm at the end

God that was a horrible part in the book. Paul was already an awakened human who lived with the freeman for over a year but he acted like a little girl and his fear of the worm.

That wasn't what he was afraid of at that point. Once he was a sandrider he'd be eligible to challenge Stilgar for leadership of the sietch - which he didn't want to do since he wanted Stilgar as a lieutenant. (from memory)
