Insanely wrong. Here's the actual analogy to academic "expertise". Two people play a chess game, no one can witness the game, afterward people playing their own games vote on the winner. Would the ELO in that system be predictive of *chess skill*?

Works for math because proofs can be validated. Does not work for other fields - hence THE REPLICATION CRISIS.
