That's produced by a society. The modern practical American definition of what a good soldier is is pretty close to what makes a good mercenary or good mafia guy. I remember going for the E-6 board, and one of the CSMs asked me what I would do if I caught one of my guys...

It's a mafia viewpoint because the mafia is a cultural adaptation to failed institutions. Similar problems give rise to similar solutions.
