1/ I assume a lot of folks don't get what the difference between a prospective and retrospective study is and why the former is superior.

Figuring that since the list was selected for some trait by looking at it for another trait you get a pretty good idea of the distribution of the population in question.
@Steve_Sailer using various lists compiled for one reason and checking ethnicities on them, for example. -
It's also just entirely possible to find ghosts in the data that just don't replicate when you compile data for purpose. Fudging and fraud do happen, but most often it's just a man's reach exceeding his grasp.
