Curious what your solution for the poverty we are experiencing today would be?

Sure, I agree. But I am asking specifically about poverty.

The ultimate end of seeing "poverty" as a social problem to be cured rather than an individual problem that people might need help solving for themselves ultimately leads no where else other than "just give people money".

Again, I do agree with that, but undoubtedly there is a rampant amount of poverty nowadays, especially in places like California. It seems to be a new, modern phenomenon distinct from the individual issues into an entire social issue that is affecting a greater number of people.

I don't agree with the premise that what you're seeing in California is an increase in "poverty". You're seeing an increase in despair, in people deciding that making any effort isn't worth it because it's futile and because the consequences of making no effort aren't that bad.

Well poverty isn't a well defined either. One persons poverty is another's luxury, so the lack of a concrete definition for what we are discussing here also leads us to different conclusions. But I believe living in a tent high on Opiods is an impoverished living.

I agree that it's a horrific thing to see and to have a society that leads to this happening is deeply flawed. I don't think "poverty" is correctly capturing the essence of the social problems that lead to that outcome.

I feel satisfied with this response because I agree. Throwing money at an issue won't solve anything if we don't address a myriad of other personal/social/economics issues that are contributing to the state of impoverished living.
