Again, I do agree with that, but undoubtedly there is a rampant amount of poverty nowadays, especially in places like California. It seems to be a new, modern phenomenon distinct from the individual issues into an entire social issue that is affecting a greater number of people.

I don't agree with the premise that what you're seeing in California is an increase in "poverty". You're seeing an increase in despair, in people deciding that making any effort isn't worth it because it's futile and because the consequences of making no effort aren't that bad.

Wishing to see a reduction in poverty doesn't mean you expect to see zero poverty. No matter how much aid and subsidies you provide for people some are going to squander that help because they are just poor, broke degenerates beyond helping.

Disagree w the premise. The problems you're seeing are increases in despair and sloth. Despair because of social problems, sloth because of the lack of difference between what industry gets you vs what sloth gets you Effort buys you less and less of essential non-monetary goods
