Imagine what a realistic worst case for the UK was in 1945 then contrast it with what happened. The UK was basically conquered and occupied by a hostile foreign power that stripped it of its foreign possessions and imposed a crippling war debt on it. That was "winning"

Yes I believe war crimes were committed by all parties in the Second World War. But I do not believe that the British and Allied Forces massacred millions of civilians like the Germans did and the Russians did before during and after World War II.
