It was a loss because if they controlled money printing this control was worth more than printing a bunch of it, handing it out to (D) vote banks and (D) operators and seeing some of it trickle back into valuations of their owned assets *and* they devalued their seigniorage

SoHo real estate was massively valuable when police protection for high end retail existed - that ended last spring.

Yes. Power trumps money - which is why they are very willing to cost themselves wealth in exchange for power - but once you realize that power trumps money you also need to stop looking at "the rich" to decide who's got power. Gates is a pathetic hanger-on in the world of power

He's sucking up as intensely as he can and getting contempt back - like a man trying to flatter a woman into sex.

You're like halfway there if you realize that money is nothing compared to power but you're still looking for the powerful by looking at who earned money through actual trade. Gates and Bezos are both men who tried to turn money into power and are failing at it.

Because if he tries to *use* this alleged power he'll find that he doesn't have it. He is allowed to control his company only to the extent that he follows progressive whims. Bezos doesn't personally administer the servers he runs for DoD - some progressive commissar does.

Why does this commissar follow Bezos' orders? Because B pays him? Remember about how money is nothing compared to power? If the man giving him his paycheck gave him an order that the commissar could refuse and gain some small measure of power, what does he do? Sides with power.

You're describing a cog - not someone with power.
