That’s a very blank slate argument. We have wetware specifically for reading facial expressions where the critical development period is like during gestation and months after birth.

It's not blank slate - it's saying that we have inborn programming that can respond badly to superstimulus that is unlike what you see in nature. Ever see a baby laugh when his mom making exaggerated expressions at him?
